I regularly help people get their license back, but how do you get your license back after paying the ticket in New Orleans? Usually that is by getting a ticket resolved or getting a new court date. Maybe you are in New Orleans right now with a suspended license and you didn’t take care of the ticket or you don’t want to go to the DMV. Maybe you do want to go to the DMV but they won’t see you because of COVID (just a tip- it’s faster to handle it on the phone right now and they may not see you in person). Maybe you say “I just paid my ticket, now what?”
First step is calling the Baton Rouge number which is 225-925-6146. They will likely assign you an agent to work with and whom you will email the paperwork to you. This paperwork is likely from the court and something I do regularly by going to court on behalf of clients. Once the paperwork is received, you forward that paperwork to the agent you are working with and they’ll update the records for you. This should clear all the flags on your record and you can connect with the DMV to get your license.
To get your license back after paying your ticket, you need a receipt or a new court date.
Don’t just go down to the DMV, they probably won’t see you. The DMV is handling suspension and reinstatements by phone. Some title companies are able to help you with this as well.
Sometimes you may have additional fines to pay once you get the paperwork into the system. You can pay the fines over the phone or web. You can also get a payment plan to pay the fines if the fees are high. Once you setup the payment plan, you can connect with the DMV to get your license reinstated. Definitely call first.
